Plastic Tank Specifications for a Longer Service Life

When an industrial, municipal or agricultural project requires liquid storage, tank selection needs to happen early. The correct tank material, capacity, configuration and specific-gravity rating can prevent costly redesigns, installation delays and premature tank failure.

Most preventable tank problems begin during specification. Agricultural tanks may be used for industrial liquids, fittings may be underspecified, liquid specific gravity may be overlooked, or the tank footprint may not be confirmed until late in the project.

Match the Tank to the Available Footprint

For most indoor applications, vertical tanks—particularly tall, narrow configurations—use floor space efficiently. However, tank dimensions must be considered alongside access, fittings, piping and installation requirements before the equipment layout is finalized. Some thought here can save headaches down the line.

A properly specified liquid-storage system should account for:

Specify Early to Avoid Costly Changes

Confirming the tank, fittings and installation requirements early reduces the risk of redesigns, site delays and costly changes during construction. It also helps ensure that the completed storage system will perform reliably over its intended service life.Percheron Plastic brings more than 30 years of product knowledge to polyethylene tank applications across Canada.
